kampagnen-logo.jpgIn Article 20(2) the German constitution says: „All public power derives from the people. It expresses itself via elections and referendums.“ Despite the existence of party-centred elections, even in the 60th year of German's Federal Republic the people still have no right to conduct referendums for taking direct influence on the state affairs. The constitutional promise is still unfulfilled.

"Volksentscheid ins Grundgesetz" is a campaign by Mehr Demnokratie e.V. With its goal to "Introduce referendums into the constitution“ it aims on that promise. Volksentscheid ins Grundgesetz wants to give voters the opportunity to use their vote for the institution of federal referendum. For that task they asked the 1.495 big party's direct candidates on their opinion to referendum. By entering one's postal code, voters can find the statements of their respective candidates on the campaign-page. Beyond that, voters can contact direct candidates via the page and take action to participate in our numerous campaign activities.

The campaign's goal is a clear declaration in next government's coalition agreement in favour to the institution of federal referendums.
